Evidence-Based Counseling

Evidence-based counseling refers to the use of therapeutic approaches and techniques that are proven effective through scientific research. In other words, counselors use methods that have been rigorously tested and shown to help clients improve their mental health and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, goal-oriented therapy that helps individuals identify and challenge negative thought patterns and behaviors. It focuses on developing healthier ways of thinking and coping, often used to treat anxiety, depression, and stress-related issues. 

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

DBT is a form of CBT designed for individuals who experience intense emotions. It combines cognitive techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies to help clients regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and improve interpersonal relationships. Commonly used for borderline personality disorder and emotional dysregulation. 

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing is a collaborative, client-centered approach that helps individuals resolve ambivalence about change. It's particularly effective in addressing substance use, lifestyle changes, and health-related behaviors by building motivation and confidence in one’s ability to change. 

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT encourages individuals to accept difficult thoughts and feelings rather than fight them, while committing to actions that align with their personal values. It blends mindfulness with behavior change strategies to help clients live more meaningful lives despite emotional challenges.

Prepare/Enrich (Premarital Counseling Tool)

Prepare/Enrich is a structured assessment and counseling program used with couples preparing for marriage. It helps partners explore key relationship areas such as communication, conflict resolution, finances, and shared values. The goal is to strengthen the relationship and prepare couples for long-term success.
